12.14.01
Up bright and early to glug down 32 ounces of water in an hour so that my ultrasound would come in nice and clear. The technologist was really, really nice and it was very exciting to see Munchkin more clearly on the screen. She took measurements which are all in the 18.5 to 19 week range, just as they should be and found the heart and kidneys and spine and other relevant parts to make sure everything works.
Munchkin weighs in currently at 290 grams, the heart is beating away, all four normal looking chambers, and there are ten little fingers and ten adorable little toes, a healthy placenta and umbilical cord and no tangling. Hurrah!
We didn't get too many pictures to take home, of the four that I carried away with me, only the face shot was worth scanning, the rest are too difficult to make out. Here is Munchkin's face at 18.5 weeks.

Munchkin is a very active little baby -- the technologist kept having to pursue the baby all over my abdomen to try to catch all of the necessary shots and measurements. It's funny, but the things which affected me the most were the little toes and the little heart beating away. It's just nice to know that yes, I am capable of making a healthy baby, despite my weight, despite my thyroid condition. It's enough to make me cry for joy.

Yay! I finally found the bedding set that I want for Munchkin at http://babyuniverse.com so now Munchkin is registered there too. The bedding set is called Twilight, it's a navy and gold, sun, moon and stars pattern made by PatchKraft. This is the look that I want for Munchkin's corner, since we don't have a full room, but it doesn't necessarily have to be -this- bedding set, by that company.
I figure I should also put up a link to GladRags as I intend to use cloth diapers as much as possible for Munchkin and I like to support small eco-friendly companies. Also, here's a link to a place to get yardage of natural flannel, which is something I'm thinking of getting so I can make some of Munchkin's clothes myself. Many Moons.
No, moving to Berkeley didn't turn me into a partial hippie -- I already was and if you didn't know that: Thhbbbbpt.:)

12.11.01
Actually got up at a normal time today, though I'm still not sleeping well. I've been thinking that one of these, might help out.
I had a bit of a chat on the phone with my mother-in-law today about baby stuff and that inspired me to go poking around on various sites. With the end result that I've built a wish list at babygap.com and registered for a baby list at JC Penney. I'll probably add a gift registry at babycenter.com as soon as they have it available 'cos they have a lot of neat stuff, including a full line of Carter's foo.
Later this week: high-quality ultrasound ... I'll have better pictures from that to post.
