The Power of Music

Have you ever noticed how powerful music is? How it grabs at emotions, how it can send you into flights of ecstasy or despair.

Just close your eyes and listen and then FEEL music ... it's almost as if it grabs ahold of your heartbeat, the pulses in the brain and gently modifies them, brings them into synchronicity with itself, carries you along in its tide.

Yes, I am listening to Enigma 1-3 again. Yes this happens to me EVERY time I listen to Enigma. I cry, I cheer, I laugh, I soar, I float.

Mike Oldfield does it too. Heck, almost ALL music does. But I tend to buy the kind of music which does this to me the most easily.

And when I want to shut out the world, I pop it into the CD player and bury myself in it, drown in it, fold it over my head like a comforting blanket.

I'd put up some sound clips ... but I don't have the capability ... so just imagine getting carried away by waves of sound ... just let yourself drift away into it ...

It's frighteningly addictive. Though I've never tried any, I can't help thinking that this must be better than any drug.

Because it comes from the music, and it comes from me. And it's almost magical what grows in between us.
