Blah. blah. blah.

I slept a lot today.

REALLY a lot.
Too much in fact.

It's a little bit worrisome, because the last time I started sleeping this much, was when I was very very very depressed. Badly depressed.

Anyway. At work today I read an article in The Chronicle that says that humans are not descended from Neandertals.

Wow. That sure changes our perception of where we come from doesn't it? I mean for years we've been going around thinking, yeah we're related to these husky folks who wandered around millennia ago. And now, through DNA testing, they're saying, "Nope sorry, try some of those other guys, like, Homo erectus".

Heh. I still find THAT apellation to be highly amusing. But I won't be dirty-minded here.

It's still one of those burning questions in the human mind: where do we come from? I find the archaeological and anthropological research being done on the subject to be fascinating. I can't wait to see what my issue of National Geographic will have about this discovery in it. One of the strongest reasons I had for subscribing to National Geographic other than the fact that I have fond memories of it from my mother's coffee table, is that they usually have something about our ancient-ancient ancestors in it every couple of months, if not more often.

I sit there with the article and close my eyes and try to picture primordial woman, what she did, how she reacted, whether she took an guff from primordial man.

Where do we come from?
