Oh boy, I am SO stuffed.
Sabs and I went out to dinner at the Chart House on the waterfront in Old Town, Alexandria tonight. It cost more money than I really wanted to spend, but boy was it ever good.
We both had prime rib, but I ordered a combination so my steak was the size you would expect it to be, about a half inch thick, juicy and yummy. Sabs on the other hand ordered what's called a Callahan cut, prime rib on the bone cooked rare. The slab of meat they served him, really was that, A SLAB, it had to be 3 inches thick at the very least and weighed about 30 oz. It was kind of scary, this huge slab of meat sitting on the plate in front of him. I must say, that while it was expensive, you certainly paid for what you got, making it an excellent value. I still can't get over how BIG that piece of meat was. Everything was delicious, from the beef to the rock salted potatoes, chocolate mousse pie for dessert and the excellent glass of porto sabs had to end his meal. We stuffed ourselves silly and we won't be going out for a while, but BOY was it ever good .... we took a little walk down the piers after dinner and enjoyed the quietness of sunset, even though children were running here and there screaming and people were talking, it was a perfect summer night.
The other joyful event for today is that I found Smita's uncle's phone number. Smita is my dear friend who departed back home to India 2 years ago and I haven't seen since then. It was so wonderful to hear her voice and get all caught up on her news and just have a talk again. It's so wonderful to have friends that you can re-connect with so easily even though time and distance have separated you.
