I woke up this morning to the sound of very loud, bouncy music piping through the windows. This would not have been a bad thing except that I got to bed sometime around 2am and this music was playing at a quarter to nine, which made me somewhat unhappy. However I'm now fully awake and cognizant and I've been thinking about all sorts of things ever since my brain started functioning. I was just thinking about my high schools. I attended two very different schools between the ages of 11 and 18. The first was a private, all-girls school where the emphasis was on giving young women a great education, the second was the local public high-school where the emphasis was on giving the bright kids a great education, the less bright kids a solid education, and the not-so bright kids, just enough education to survive. I switched from private to public school as I started my Junior year. If I hadn't changed schools, my life would most likely be very different now. There are all sorts of people I wouldn't have met, my relationship with my best friend would be very different..perhaps better in fact, and maybe I would have been a more serious student in college ...maybe. Anyway, the changes are too numerous to count, but it just brought home to me how much one small decision can make a HUGE difference in the course of a person's life. Have you ever made a decision that didn't seem all that big, that eventually made a big difference in your life? |
